What I Wore Today

Heading out for another lovely night of Ken Club Karaoke, located in the heart of beautiful Kensington, SD. I found this dress at a local boutique and purchased it for my styling arsenal…but not before I took it for a test spin! I love the cut of the dress which has a very interesting silhouette and a cool paint splattered pattern.

I didn’t want to cover up the dress too much so I paired it with this mini cardigan for both warmth and modesty.

Adding the knee length cowboy boots and initial necklace I have a look that I affectionately refer to as “The Sweetheart”.

The Look:

Avant-Garde Dress: Insight (purchased at a local boutique)

Mini Cardigan: Forever 21

Boots: Wild Diva (Lulu’s.com)

“C” Initial Necklace: Gypsy Warrior Vintage (Etsy.com)

What I Wore Today

Since school started there is little energy left at the end of the day, not wanting to change entirely and not really wanting to get off the couch I forced myself into my room to to see what I could do about the situation. Ultimately, I switched out the top I was wearing and added a few accessories to create an actual pulled together look.

You’ve heard me speak before on staples in one’s wardrobe but I’ll say it again, “one should have at least two men’s collard button-ups”. You could get away with one but if you happen to find a great fit I would advise getting extra in a different colour like this men’s Express military style button-up which I got in grey as well as black. All I can say is these shirts go with everything! Make sure you get the super fitted one otherwise you may have a less flattering fit if you wear it without tucking it in. Express also has a women’s version of this shirt, but I find that the men’s ones have more clothe to work with as well as adding that extra bit of sexy that comes with a woman dressing in men’s garments.

This outfit was all about the accessories. I needed to feel like I made an effort to get up and pull myself together without actually having to do the work I was not in the mood for. By doing this I create the confidence of dressing to impress without nearly as much effort. Oh, how I love accessories!

I’ve been wanting to wear a look similar to this for sometime now so I was excited to have actually made it work. I had always planned on wearing this shirt with a tie but as I was getting ready to tie it I noticed the way the crossed over fabric looked and I fell in love with it. Using an antique broach that was gifted to me a few years ago I pinned it into position.

The broach softens the look while the studded belt added a bit of punk, I took it a little bit further and added a second belt which brought the outfit back to a more masculine state then I added the large pink heart-shaped ring and my lovely snake bracelet to bring back the femininity. I’m all about the contrast. This outfit drew a lot of compliments and I have to admit I felt super badass!

The Look:

Men’s Military Style Button-Up: Express

Jean Leggings: LC by Lauren Conrad

Men’s Square Tie: Vintage (Thrifted)

Pink Plastic Heart-Shaped Ring: Forever 21

Knee Boots: Isaac Mizrahi

Reversible Black/White Belt: New York & Company

Antique Broach: Gifted

Snake Bracelet: Pop Killer

What I Wore Today

It was just another typical Tuesday and I was feeling a little creative so my friend Leah and I made this lace shirt.

This look was taken from day, the koulots as well as the socks were kept and details such as accessories, shirt, and shoes were added to make the look less daytime casual to nighttime glamor. I also got to wear my apple earrings for the first time since their purchase a couple of years ago. Yah for me!

This is a look that can be very daring, but played down with the koulots and socks keeps it from being too dressy. And with that here’s the look!

The Look:

Lace Top: Made DIY Style

Koulots: Charlotte Russe

Apple Earrings: Forever 21

Heart Socks: Forever 21

Gold Sequin Pumps: Forever 21

Bra: Avero (Intimacy Fashion Valley)

What I Wore Today

Sometimes when I have a standing appointment for going out, such as Ken Club Karaoke, and I have that appointment every week, it can be taxing to find something to wear. More than that, it’s hard to find the motivation to go out at all. These are the days, or rather, nights that can go either way. I could put on some music to get me pumped or I can just throw on whatever is simple and comfortable. But the one thing I never have trouble with is making my casual outfit a bit less casual and a bit more dressy. One lesson that I learned in college seems to apply very well here; it’s not how hard you try; it’s now hard you appear to be trying. By that I mean, no one sees behind the scenes they just see the finished product and so long as that finished product is well put together and well presented the general public has no idea that you’re, for lack of a better term, faking it. But you know what they say…”Fake it till ya make it” and with that here’s the look!

Here I dressed down a pair of summer dressy-casual cinched shorts with a plain boyfriend v-neck from target and dressed it back up with the some Betsey Johnson stilettos in hot pink! Fun, comfortable, yet clean and classic. All black with a splash of color is one of my favorite looks.

The Look:

V-Neck Boyfriend Tee: Mossimo Supply Co. (Target)

Shorts: Charlotte Russe

Boyfriend Blazer: Merona (Target)

Hot Pink Platform Stilettos: Betsey Johnson

Blue Bow Headband: Target

Bag: Aldo
