What I Wore Today

I know that we all have those days when we feel really, well…for lack of a better word…fat. Call it bloat or whatever else you may but that fact of the matter still remains the same, on those days it’s very hard to get enthusiastic about going out. Here, experiencing first hand “one of those days”, I opted to keep it simple and focus on the accessories.

That said, I would like to pay special focus on is the scarf. In all honesty it’s not a scarf at all, it is a headband, one that has the scrunchie in the back and you basically don’t even have to tie (you know, because of the scrunchie bit) you then can tie the back strips to make a pretty bow or what have you.
I decided to use it as a scarf tying the knot big enough to hit the scrunched bit. Topping off the look, literally, was this very 1920’s/1930’s style women’s hat that I just love. These two attention to details transform a look which can be otherwise plain, simple, or boring and then attach a style, a time period, a way of thinking something that now make it special in a very nonchalant sort of way.

The Look:

Vintage Style Hat: Target

Polka Dot Headband (Scarf): Forever 21

V-Neck Tee: Mossimo Supply Co. (Target)

Mini Skirt: Express

Tights: Target

Patent Leather Mary Jane’s: Anne Michelle

What I Wore Today

This outfit was pieced together for a charity event/fashion show/birthday party at Janusz Hair Studio in University Heights in San Diego. I have this skirt that I bought a million years ago from Forever 21. I love the print of the skirt but the pleated Catholic school girl look was getting to be a bit boring. I almost got rid of it when I last cleaned out my closet but I held onto it for some strange reason. I was playing dress up the other night (this is time that I spend putting together outfits so I know how best to utilize what I have, also I ingrain the look in my head and the next time I need to get ready in a hurry I have a few outfits in my head that are already picked out from headband to platform pump toe) and I wondered what the skirt would look like under a petticoat and voilà! It was a total hit!

I encourage you to go into your closet tonight and find an article of clothing that can be improved by adding something, pinning something, or using it for an entirely new purpose. I bet you’ll be really happy with the results!
