What I Wore Today
Since school started there is little energy left at the end of the day, not wanting to change entirely and not really wanting to get off the couch I forced myself into my room to to see what I could do about the situation. Ultimately, I switched out the top I was wearing and added a few accessories to create an actual pulled together look.
You’ve heard me speak before on staples in one’s wardrobe but I’ll say it again, “one should have at least two men’s collard button-ups”. You could get away with one but if you happen to find a great fit I would advise getting extra in a different colour like this men’s Express military style button-up which I got in grey as well as black. All I can say is these shirts go with everything! Make sure you get the super fitted one otherwise you may have a less flattering fit if you wear it without tucking it in. Express also has a women’s version of this shirt, but I find that the men’s ones have more clothe to work with as well as adding that extra bit of sexy that comes with a woman dressing in men’s garments.
This outfit was all about the accessories. I needed to feel like I made an effort to get up and pull myself together without actually having to do the work I was not in the mood for. By doing this I create the confidence of dressing to impress without nearly as much effort. Oh, how I love accessories!
I’ve been wanting to wear a look similar to this for sometime now so I was excited to have actually made it work. I had always planned on wearing this shirt with a tie but as I was getting ready to tie it I noticed the way the crossed over fabric looked and I fell in love with it. Using an antique broach that was gifted to me a few years ago I pinned it into position.
The broach softens the look while the studded belt added a bit of punk, I took it a little bit further and added a second belt which brought the outfit back to a more masculine state then I added the large pink heart-shaped ring and my lovely snake bracelet to bring back the femininity. I’m all about the contrast. This outfit drew a lot of compliments and I have to admit I felt super badass!
