What I Wore Today

Since the summer sun decided to finally show up I felt like celebrating as Thom and I traveled to LA for our good friend Matt’s 25th birthday party. It was about 90 degrees out but I felt great thanks to my roomy/breathable weather appropriate culottes! Remember, it’s even more fun to dress fashionably during the day than it is at night!

The Look:

Fedora Hat: Brixton (Borrowed from Thom)

Stripped V-Neck: $5.99 Store

Culotte Shorts: Charlotte Russe

White Studded Pumps: Charlotte Russe

Vintage Gold Chain: American Apparel

White Rimmed Sunglasses: Knock off Dior

What I Wore Today

This outfit was pieced together for a charity event/fashion show/birthday party at Janusz Hair Studio in University Heights in San Diego. I have this skirt that I bought a million years ago from Forever 21. I love the print of the skirt but the pleated Catholic school girl look was getting to be a bit boring. I almost got rid of it when I last cleaned out my closet but I held onto it for some strange reason. I was playing dress up the other night (this is time that I spend putting together outfits so I know how best to utilize what I have, also I ingrain the look in my head and the next time I need to get ready in a hurry I have a few outfits in my head that are already picked out from headband to platform pump toe) and I wondered what the skirt would look like under a petticoat and voilà! It was a total hit!

I encourage you to go into your closet tonight and find an article of clothing that can be improved by adding something, pinning something, or using it for an entirely new purpose. I bet you’ll be really happy with the results!

The Look:

Fedora: Brixton Stroll by Brixton (Borrowed from Thom)

White Chandelier Earring: Forever 21

Belt: Urban Outfitters

Skirt: Forever 21 (ages ago)

White Petticoat: Legs Avenue

Tights: Forever 21

White Studded Platform Pumps: Charlotte Russe

Huge Pink Heart Ring: Forever 21

The Hat that Isn’t Mine

We found this gem of a hat in my dear friend Christine McLaughlin’s boutique back when she was still based in San Diego. It’s actually belongs to Thom and he wore it with pride for a while and then moved on to his next hat de jour.

Meanwhile, this little Britxon came to live with Carol. Even though there are tons of these types of short brimmed fedoras out there made specifically for women, I think there’s nothing sexier than a woman in men’s clothing and the same stands even truer when dealing with hats.

Up next is a series of examples of how I wear my (Thom’s) Brixton Stroll, The Little Fedora That Could.
